Chemistry Lab Equipment Malaysia

It’s important to go beyond textbooks and theoretical knowledge when teaching science to school kids. Students must watch and use various materials and things in order to better understand what is being taught in class. This is called practical learning. For some students, science can be boring for them with all the scientific names and terms to memorise. With hands-on learning, it will intrigue the urge to learn sciences and discover that science is fun!

Lab equipment Malaysia can provide schools with the equipment that they needed. Before buying lab equipment, there are a few labs that differ according to subjects in school. Three main science labs are biology, physics and chemistry lab equipment. Let’s take a quick look at what equipment should have in a chemistry lab.

Latex Glove and Apron

As chemistry often uses a lot of chemical substances that might be hazardous to students if they are carelessly handled. So to avoid anything that could go wrong, students are advised to wear latex gloves to protect their hands. An apron also should be worn when students start their experiment. If any chemical substance spill over, it would not stain their cloth or expose them to any infection.

Measurement Apparatus

In chemistry, you need an exact measurement of chemical substances to get the mixing right. A tiny slip would cost you a do-over. The type of apparatus needed in the lab would be a volumetric flask, a graduated cylinder, a pipet, a buret etc. These are the simple measurement equipment your student can use in their experiment. Make sure to explain the way of using the apparatus correctly before giving it out for them to use.

Bunsen Burner

A bunsen burner is an air gas burner that is used for sterilization, heating and combustion in a chemistry lab. The flame is made by a mix of gas and oxygen in a controlled environment to determine the size and heat of the flame. This is one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment in a chemistry lab. Bunsen burner only can be used under the teacher’s guidance and monitoring.

Test Tube

A test tube is common lab equipment in all types of laboratories in the school. The test tube is needed for mixing substances in small amounts, transferring substances from the bigger containers or putting the chemical substance that will be experimented in. Test tubes are advised not to handle directly touching your hand especially when it is filled with substances. When washing the tubes, wash them efficiently so that no substance is left behind in the tube. A lab assistant will help to sterilise these tubes after it has been used for deep cleaning.

Conclusion

There is much more chemistry lab equipment needed in the lab but these are most important to have when handling experiments. A teacher or a lab assistant guidance is needed for the students to do their work in the laboratory. No students are allowed to be alone in the lab in case of unwanted incident happens.
